I do my own deodorant; I use oils for my skin, my husband washes his hair with Aleppo soup and rinses with vinegar – we try our best to avoid buying beauty products.
But sometimes I cannot resist to treat myself to some fancy, pretty, shiny shop products, promising instant youth, beauty and happiness and making myself feel like a princess. But they have to be vegan & organic! So while visiting Biofach 2019 , the organic food fair, I made sure to drop by at VIVANESS, the international trade fair for natural cosmetics.

Once again a very special time is approaching. In less than a week the Oktoberfest 2017 will start. Locals and tourist, young and old, hipsters and traditionalist, they all come together to drink, eat and enjoy Bavarian cosiness.
Much beer will be consumed and, unfortunately, many pigs, cows and chickens have to give their lives to fill hungry stomachs. But vegans do not need to despair. Vegan food has conquered Oktoberfest, too, and you will find vegan options at nearly all tents. Below I did put together some tips & recommendations for a vegan Wiesn 2017. So get ready for a stroll around the Oktoberfest and have fun!

O’zafpt is! Get Ready – Go Vegan!
Oktoberfest 2015 will start in less than a week. From 19th of September until 4th of October Munich once more will be celebrating like crazy. With more than 6 million visitors from all over the world I am sure some vegans will find their way, too.
Over 16 big tents, 21 small tents and many small booths will offer local specialties; sadly most of it will not be vegan (last year more than 112 oxen and 48 calves had to give their life). Still, no reason to despair. As a vegetarian and vegan lifestyle becomes more and more common, even traditional events like the Oktoberfest start to pick up the trend. Vegetarian food is easy to be found and even vegan dishes make it to the menus.
Below you will find a quick overview of where to satisfy your VEGAN hunger. Print out the list and start your vegan Oktoberfest tour. If you want to find out more about the tents (history, size, party-level..) you can follow the links provided below.

Anticipation is half the fun. So here are some events to look forward to!
Tuesday, 21. April: Green City’s Kleidertauschparty (Cloth-Swap)
For me a vegan life is also about reducing my environmental footprint. So instead of shopping new stuff my aim is to “Refuse – Reduce – Reuse – Recycle”. A great way to give away my old clothing and get new one is Green City’s “Kleidertausch”. Here you can swap clothing you have grown out off or just don’t like anymore. You bring what you have (and if you have nothing that is fine too) and take home whatever you like. Starting at 19:00 o’clock the event takes place at orange bar, Zirkus-Krone-Strasse 10, 6. Floor. The entrance fee is 3€ (and includes a drink). Even if you do not need anything, it is worth joining – the orange bar is on the top floor and it’s roof terrace offers a supreme view of Munich.
Friday, 24. April: Vegan Kochen für Genießer (Vegan Potluck)
Once a month I am organizing a vegan get-together. No matter if you are a vegan, vegetarian or omnivore – as long as you are interested and open to vegan lifestyle you are welcome. Bring your vegan dish and join us at our long table to make new friends! We will meet at 19:30 and start to eat at 20:00. More information and a link to register can be found at vegan-kochen.tumblr.com. Sign up for the newsletter and never miss a potluck again!
Munich is slow in adopting new trends – but IF we think that something is cool, we dive into it head first.
So the Food Truck- hype finally did make it to Munich and I just came back from Circus of Food. With over 40 food trucks this was one of the biggest gatherings lately. Although there is much meat on offer, like Burgers and Hot Dogs, several vegan options were available.
Meeting up at the Viehhofgelände – a really cool place which also host a great outdoor movie event in summers – the list of trucks was impressive – you can find the list HERE.
Want to know what vegan delights have been on offer?
meikaii is a vegetarian & vegan truck – with focus on vegan.
They offered a Buddha Bowl with rice, quinoa, chickpeas, nuts & seeds, salad, micro greens and a great dressing.
New year – at least for me, as I just turned 43 yesterday. And for “New Years” you need a good, new year’s resolution:)
Mine is to “re-start” this blog and share with you delicious food, shopping and event tips, exciting new places and experiences.
I never had run out of ideas or topics to share with you, but simply have been to busy, lazy, and what ever, to actually sit down and write…
The last year we have been spending a lot if time to establish and grow our “Vegan Kochen für Genießer” Supper Club and it’s Blog ( which is in German).
This has been such a rewarding experience. Once a month we do arrange a vegan dinner or Brunch in our private home. Everyone brings some food, we present our dishes, share recipes and experience and simply have a good time.
So if you are new to Munich, or “just” traveling through: JOIN US!
